Local athletes raise money for Foodlink - WHEC.COM Featuring Roc Yoga Revolution

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — We've been amazed with the creativity of athletes during this time. When gyms have been closed and sports have been canceled tons of athletes in our area found unique ways to stay active and some even turned their activity into a fundraiser to help the community.

The idea continued with other activities. On a spring afternoon, Lynne Boucher is teaching a yoga class despite being the only person in the room. This is a virtual class with half of the proceeds going to Foodlink.

 

"That's really rooted in my approach to yoga,” Boucher said. “It's my job and livelihood, I see it as a way to give back to the community.  If I can invite and welcome the community to support my work and more importantly most in need, it's a win-win-win."

The need is massive in this time, according to Foodlink, requests for their services have increased by 40% during the pandemic with an estimated 200,000 people in western New York classified as food-insecure.
